Sunrise is a partner in the Go SOLAR Broward Rooftop Solar Photovoltaic Online Permitting System, which lets licensed contractors select pre-approved panels, mounting, and electrical schematics and receive an almost-instant permit with signed, sealed plans. The city charges a one-time $500 permit fee for a rooftop PV system, administered by the Community Development Building Division. Because Broward County lies in the Florida Building Code's High Velocity Hurricane Zone, every component needs a Miami-Dade Notice of Acceptance or Florida Product Approval with HVHZ certification, and mounting must withstand roughly 170 mph design winds. FPL net metering credits excess generation back to the customer.
