Broomfield, CO Soliciting & Door-to-Door: No-Knock Registry (2026)

Broomfield Municipal Code § 5-20-140(A) makes it unlawful to solicit at any residence where a sign has been conspicuously displayed reading "no solicitors" or "no soliciting": once that sign is up, a licensed solicitor who knocks anyway is trespassing under the chapter. Subsection (B) layers a citywide curfew on top of the sign rule, cross-referencing § 9-58-010, B.M.C. to bar solicitation before 9:00 a.m. or after 9:00 p.m. at any residence, sign or no sign. The rule applies to everyone covered by Chapter 5-20, including the organizations in § 5-20-010(B) (government agencies, accredited private schools, and tax-exempt charitable, civic, religious, educational, fraternal or cultural groups) that are otherwise excused from getting a license but are still bound to "otherwise comply with section 5-20-140." That means a nonprofit canvasser or petition-gatherer, not just a paid peddler, must respect a posted sign and the 9 p.m. cutoff.

The rule traces back to the original 1963 peddler ordinance (Ord. 35 § 14) and was amended repeatedly through 2001 (Ord. 1013, 1103, 1196, 1568) before being retitled by Ord. No. 2087 in 2019.
