Broomfield, CO Soliciting & Door-to-Door: Solicitor Permits (2026)

Broomfield Municipal Code § 5-20-010 makes it unlawful for a solicitor to engage in business in the city without a license issued under Chapter 5-20, though the exemption list carves out established delivery routes, mobile food vending and food trucks, and callers with a prior appointment. Section 5-20-030 requires applicants to file with the city clerk their name, date of birth and valid ID, personal and business address, a description of the goods or services sold, any vehicle used, a criminal history statement, and credentials from the firm they represent.

Under § 5-20-040, the clerk refers every application to the chief of police for a criminal-background investigation; grounds for denial include a felony or moral-turpitude conviction, a conviction for solicitation committed within Broomfield, or a Broomfield solicitor license denial, suspension or revocation within the past five years. Once approved, § 5-20-050 requires the clerk to issue a badge printed "Licensed Solicitor," bearing the licensee's name, address, expiration date and license number, which every solicitor must conspicuously display while working. A license runs one year from issuance (§ 5-20-040(D)) and is non-transferable (§ 5-20-070).

The local licensing authority can suspend or revoke a license after notice and hearing for fraud, misrepresentation, chapter violations, moral-turpitude convictions, or conduct that breaches the peace or menaces public health, safety or welfare (§ 5-20-080), and a denied applicant may appeal to the authority within ten days (§ 5-20-090).
