La Grange, MO Soliciting & Door-to-Door: No-Knock Registry (2026)

Section 605.140's general prohibitions protect residents who do not want uninvited visitors. First, no peddler, solicitor or canvasser may enter property where the front yard displays a sign visible from the right-of-way that is at least one square foot with letters at least two inches tall reading "no soliciting" or "no solicitors"; that phrase also covers peddlers and canvassers even though it does not use those words. Second, the same restriction applies to a sign or sticker posted on a door or entrance that guests would normally use.

Third, Section 605.140.3 bars using any entrance other than the front or main entrance, or leaving a marked walkway, without an express invitation. Fourth, no one may remove a posted no-soliciting sign to defeat its notice. Fifth, Section 605.140.5 sets a citywide curfew: no peddler, solicitor or canvasser may enter another's property except between 9:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m., regardless of whether a sign is posted. All five prohibitions yield to an express invitation from the resident. Section 605.130 separately regulates handbills and commercial flyers, barring them from being attached to utility poles, signs or transit shelters in the right-of-way (with Police authorized to remove them), from damaging private property, and from being left on any property already posted under Section 605.140; a person distributing handbills must identify themselves to Police on request.

Section 605.150 makes any violation of Chapter 605 a trespass, prosecuted and penalized the same as the City's general trespass ordinance rather than under a separate solicitation penalty.
