Tustin, CA Soliciting & Door-to-Door: No-Knock Registry (2026)

Tustin City Code Section 5817 regulates residential solicitation. No one may solicit in a residential zone between 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 a.m. unless the visit is by appointment, or at any dwelling posting a "No Solicitors" sign, or within a homeowners' association with private streets that has posted the same notice at each vehicular entry. Solicitors also cannot use profane or abusive language, step onto or over a doorway threshold without invitation, place hands or limbs in the doorway so the door cannot close, refuse to leave immediately when an occupant asks, or knowingly misrepresent the purpose of the solicitation.

Anyone collecting more than five dollars must give a written receipt naming the solicitor, the date and the amount on request, and charitable solicitors must also comply with the state Charitable Disclosure Law (Business and Professions Code Section 17510 et seq.) and hold a Tustin charitable solicitation permit under Section 2513(f). Section 5818 gives commercial property owners the same tool: posting a "No Solicitors" sign at least 22 by 17 inches with one-inch lettering at each vehicular entry bars solicitation on that property. Chapter 8's Part IV, Section 5840, makes any violation of the solicitation chapter chargeable as an infraction or misdemeanor under Section 1121.
