Garden Grove, CA Soliciting & Door-to-Door: No-Knock Registry (2026)

Under Garden Grove Municipal Code Chapter 5.44, residents may post no-solicitation signs on their property to prohibit commercial solicitors from approaching their door. Any permitted or unpermitted solicitor who ignores a posted no-solicitation sign is in violation of the municipal code and may additionally be charged with trespassing under California Penal Code Section 602. The sign should be clearly visible at or near the front entrance or property line. Solicitors must check for and comply with no-solicitation signs before approaching any residence. If a resident verbally requests a solicitor to leave, the solicitor must depart immediately regardless of whether a sign is posted. Failure to leave after being asked constitutes trespassing. The no-solicitation protection applies to commercial sales pitches, subscription services, and similar commercial activities. It does not typically apply to political canvassers, religious proselytizers, or nonprofit charitable solicitors exercising First Amendment rights, though these individuals must still leave when asked.
