Tyler has no opt-out solicitation registry, but a posted no-soliciting sign carries the force of law. Sec. 4-61(b) makes it unlawful to knock or ring for sales or charity at any residence displaying a sign refusing solicitation.
Sec. 4-61(b) of the Tyler City Code makes it unlawful to ring a doorbell, knock, or otherwise summon an occupant for a charitable or home-solicitation transaction when a sign is posted in a conspicuous place upon or near the main entrance indicating the occupant does not wish to be disturbed or prohibiting solicitation, peddling, or trespassing. The sign may also be posted at the main entrance of a gated community, apartment complex, or other residential facility. The rule does not apply to visits requested by the occupant or to U.S. Postal Service and private mail deliveries. Handbill distribution is governed separately by Sec. 4-91.
Ignoring a posted no-soliciting sign violates Sec. 4-61(b), a Chapter 4 offense enforced by Tyler police through municipal-court citations.
