Bensalem, PA Soliciting & Door-to-Door: Solicitor Permits (2026)

Township Code § 163-2 makes it unlawful to solicit or peddle in Bensalem without first taking out a license. Under § 163-4, applicants apply to the Bensalem Building and Planning Department, pay the fee set in Chapter 99, and disclose their name, address, prior felony and moral-turpitude misdemeanor convictions, employer, the goods or services offered, the vehicle used and its registration, and the number of helpers (each helper needs an individual license). Licenses run for up to 30 days per § 163-4, and under § 163-5 are valid 30 days from issuance and renewable only by filing a new application and fee; peddlers of food and beverages meant to be eaten within an hour from a moving vehicle may instead get an annual license valid 12 months.

Section 163-6 requires the license be carried at all times and shown to police or code officers on request, and bars using it for goods or a vehicle not listed on the license. The Building and Planning Department keeps the license records and supervises license holders under § 163-11, and § 163-13 lets the department suspend or revoke a license for a violation or false statements, with written notice and a right to appeal to the Bensalem Township Council within ten days. Farmers selling their own products and qualifying charitable, religious or civic organizations selling from their own sponsoring property are exempt from the peddling definition under § 163-1.
