Hudson, NH Soliciting & Door-to-Door: Solicitor Permits (2026)

Chapter 232, Article II covers anyone, resident or not, who goes door to door, house to house or along Hudson streets either selling goods for future delivery or requesting charitable donations or pledges; only minors under 18 are exempt from the licensing requirement under § 232-12. The application under § 232-13 must include the solicitor's identity, permanent address and Social Security number, a description of the goods or purpose of the solicitation, the name and address of any employer, and, since 2011, a state and federal background check under RSA 31:102-b paid for by the applicant.

A license costs a fee set in Chapter 205 and is valid for 90 days under § 232-14B. The Town also issues each solicitor a badge that must be worn visibly, replaceable for $5 if lost, unless the solicitor's own badge already meets the same requirements. under § 232-16A, and no one may solicit at a home or business posting a notice that solicitors aren't welcome; political canvassers are exempt from every restriction except that same time window, under the definition in § 232-11B. The Town can suspend or revoke a license under § 232-17 for fraud, misrepresentation, violating license conditions, or creating a public nuisance or safety danger, after which the license holder has 10 days to file a written appeal with the Board of Selectmen, whose decision under § 232-18 is final.
