Salt Lake City Code Chapter 5.64 requires all door-to-door solicitors, peddlers, and direct sellers to obtain a business license and register individual agents with the Business Licensing Division. Solicitors must carry and display their license card, solicit only between 9:00 a.m. and sunset or 9:00 p.m. (whichever is earlier), and immediately leave any residence posted with a No Soliciting sign. Religious, political, and charitable canvassers are generally exempt under First Amendment protections but may still register voluntarily.
