Jacksonville Parks, Recreation and Community Programming Department (JaxParks) manages park reservations and event permits. Two types of reservations exist: picnic pavilion and park event. Events with 500+ attendees must also obtain a Special Events Permit through the Office of Special Events.
The Jacksonville Parks, Recreation and Community Programming Department (JaxParks) manages reservations for events in city parks. Two types of reservations are available: picnic pavilion reservations (for smaller gatherings at designated pavilion sites) and park event reservations (for larger organized events using open areas of city parks). Reservations are made through the JaxParks Reservation Site online system. Events expecting 500 or more attendees must also obtain a permit through the Office of Special Events, which coordinates with JSO, JFRD (Fire), and other city departments. Park rules are governed by Chapter 28 of the Jacksonville Ordinance Code, Part 7 (Rules and Enforcement). Standard park hours are dawn to dusk unless otherwise posted. Events outside standard hours require special approval. Insurance requirements vary by event size and type; large events typically require general liability insurance naming the City as additional insured. Food vendors at park events must have required Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation food service licenses. Amplified sound must comply with the city's noise ordinance (Chapter 368).
Unpermitted events: citation, fine up to $500. Violating park rules: citation under Chapter 28. Damage to park property: cost of repair plus penalties.
