La Grange, MO Special Events & Permits: Park Event Permits (2026)

Section 145.490, adopted by Ordinance No. 348 on March 8, 1993, lets a person, firm, partnership, association or corporation apply to the Mayor of the City of La Grange for a park extended hours permit to use City park property beyond the normal hours of park operation set in Section 145.470. The written application must include the applicant's name, address and phone number; if filed on behalf of an organization, that organization's headquarters and responsible officers; the name of the person responsible for conduct during the event; the exact date and times of use beyond normal hours; the approximate number of persons expected; whether the event will use all or only part of the park; written authorization if the applicant is applying on behalf of someone else; and any additional information the Mayor finds reasonably necessary.

A $5.00 permit processing fee is due when the application is filed. The Mayor must issue the permit if the use is not reasonably likely to cause injury, provoke disorderly conduct or create a disturbance; will not require so many Police Officers that normal protection elsewhere in the City suffers; and is not held solely to advertise a product or for private profit. The Mayor must act within five days of filing and, if denying the application, must mail the applicant a written notice of disapproval stating the reasons within that same five-day window.

An applicant denied a permit may appeal to the City Council within five days of the notice, and the Council must act on the appeal within ten days of receiving it.
