The dining area must sit immediately adjacent to, abutting, and adjoining the restaurant it serves and cannot extend beyond that establishment's building frontage or tenant space, unless the Director approves a shared area between businesses. An accessible path of travel at least four feet wide must be maintained for pedestrian and disabled access, complying with the California Building Code. The operator must keep the area clean and safe and properly dispose of all trash.

Any enclosure wall or fence needs architectural detailing that complements the adjacent building's design, and the solid portion of that wall or fence cannot exceed 36 inches within the Traffic Safety Sight Area; outside that area, within setbacks or required landscaping, a solid fence or hedge is capped at 42 inches, and a see-through fence tops out at six feet, with a combination design allowed if the solid portion stays under 42 inches and the total under six feet. No identification or advertising signs are allowed on the enclosure.
