Greece, NY Special Events & Permits: Street Fair Rules (2026)

Chapter 175's definition of a "special event" expressly lists carnivals, festivals, fairs and bazaars alongside arts and crafts sales and public celebrations, and a "vendor" is defined as a person operating a booth, stand, cart or vehicle, or otherwise occupying event space to sell food, beverages, goods or games. Under § 175-4, no such event may take place without a Town Clerk permit, and the § 175-5 application must list the vendor engaged in food or beverage preparation and sale, plus plans for trash and sewage disposal, water supply, and security.

(indoors, the cutoff is midnight). No vendor may sell alcohol or run games of skill or chance at the event without first obtaining the proper New York State license for that activity. The Town Clerk, Chief of Police, Code Enforcement Officer and Fire Marshal may attach further conditions needed to protect public health and safety. Fees are set by Town Board resolution, and the applicant must reimburse the Town for outside engineering review costs under § 175-5D.
