Casa Grande, AZ Swimming Pools & Spas: Fencing & Safety Requirements (2026)

Casa Grande Municipal Code § 17.52.110(B) requires every private and semi-private swimming pool to be enclosed by a solid wall or fence, a chain link fence, or a wrought iron fence with vertical bars at least half an inch in cross-section spaced no more than four inches apart. The barrier must stand five feet in height and be built so the pool is inaccessible to small children, with no more than four inches of clearance between the bottom of the wall or fence and the ground beneath it.

Every gate in that enclosure must be self-closing, and self-latching, with the latch mounted at least four and a half feet above the ground, unless the gate is otherwise inaccessible to small children from the outside. The same section, § 17.52.110(A), also keeps the pool and its equipment structures at least five feet from the nearest property line and bars a pool from sitting between the front property line and the front building setback line. Casa Grande Animal Care and Adoption and the city's building inspectors are not the enforcing bodies here; compliance is checked through the planning department during permitting and by code enforcement acting on the zoning administrator's authority under Title 17.
