Casa Grande, AZ Parking Rules: EV Charging (2026)

Casa Grande treats electric-vehicle charging as encouraged infrastructure rather than a citywide mandate. Municipal Code § 17.56.060(B) 'strongly encourages' any site required to provide more than twenty-five parking spaces under § 17.56.030 to add EV charging spaces, using the preferred-count table in the same subsection: zero preferred spaces for sites with 0-25 total parking spaces, one preferred space for sites with 25-100 spaces, and two percent of total parking for sites above 100 spaces.

Where a developer does provide EV charging, § 17.56.060(C) sets a binding equipment floor. Non-residential uses must install 208/40V Level 2 or Level 3 charging stations, and Level 1 outlets cannot be used to satisfy the section; residential uses may use any infrastructure class but must dedicate at least one Level 2 or Level 3 space. Design standards in subsection D require at least one outlet, connector, or charging station per space without shrinking the parking stall size set by § 17.56.040, and subsection F requires charging outlets and connectors to sit no lower than 36 inches and no higher than 48 inches above the ground, protected by a curb or wheel stop set back more than 24 inches from the equipment to guard against vehicle strikes. Subsection E requires every EV space to be on the same site as the principal use, with multiple spaces encouraged, but not required, to be grouped together.
