Per ISPSC and IRC Appendix G as adopted by West Valley City, pools and spas containing water over 24 inches deep must be enclosed by a barrier at least 48 inches high measured from the outside. Openings in the barrier cannot exceed 4 inches. Gates must open outward away from the pool, be self-closing and self-latching, with the latch at least 54 inches above the ground.
