Supercans must be placed at the curb with handles facing the house, 3 feet from obstructions (cars, mailboxes, poles), and with at least 3 feet between cans. Place on the same side of street as residence.
DPW requires clear access for the automated side-arm collection truck. Alley-pickup properties place cans in designated alley locations. Cans blocked by vehicles, low branches, or snow piles will be skipped. Residents must retrieve cans from curb by 7 AM day after collection under City Code 38-32. Contact Richmond at (804) 646-5700 for enforcement.
Leaving cans at curb past collection day: $50 civil penalty. Repeated violations: $100. Blocking sidewalk with cans may trigger ADA complaint.
