Central Virginia Waste Management Authority (CVWMA) provides biweekly curbside recycling to Richmond residents using 95-gallon blue carts. Single-stream program accepts paper, cardboard, plastic bottles 1-2 and 5, metal cans, and glass.
Richmond participates in CVWMA regional recycling contract with Waste Management/TFC Recycling. Plastic bags, film, foam, and yard waste NOT accepted in carts. Cardboard must be flattened and fit inside cart with lid closed. Contaminated loads may be rejected. Glass is collected curbside but residents are encouraged to use drop-off purple bins for higher-quality recycling.
Contamination or wishcycling: no direct fine but cart may be tagged and left. Repeat contamination may result in service suspension.
