Garden Grove provides bulky item collection as part of its residential waste service contract with Republic Services. Each household is entitled to up to 4 bulky item pickups per calendar year at no additional cost. Eligible items include furniture, mattresses, appliances (with doors removed for safety), and other large household items that do not fit in standard carts. Items must be placed at the curb by 6:00 AM on the scheduled pickup day. Hazardous materials, construction debris, tires, and e-waste are not accepted through bulky pickup and must be taken to the appropriate Orange County disposal facility. The OC Household Hazardous Waste Collection Center at 2301 N. Glassell Street in Orange accepts hazardous materials. E-waste can be recycled at designated drop-off events. Republic Services also operates a residential cleanup program for larger quantities. Illegal dumping of bulk items on public property or rights-of-way is prohibited under Municipal Code Section 8.36.050 and may be reported to Code Enforcement at (714) 741-5792.
