North Miami provides bulk item pickup for large household items on a scheduled basis. Residents must call Public Works to schedule pickup of furniture, appliances, and other oversized items. Construction debris requires separate hauling arrangements. Hazardous waste must go through Miami-Dade County programs.
The North Miami Public Works Department provides bulk item collection for single-family residential properties. Large household items including furniture, mattresses, and appliances must be scheduled for pickup by calling Public Works at (305) 895-9830. Bulk items should be placed at the curb on the scheduled pickup day and must not block sidewalks or the right-of-way. Appliances containing refrigerants (refrigerators, air conditioners, freezers) require special handling and must be scheduled separately. Construction and demolition debris is not accepted through city collection and requires the property owner to arrange private hauling through a licensed waste contractor. Electronics including televisions, computers, and monitors should be recycled through Miami-Dade County's e-waste programs. Hazardous waste including paint, chemicals, oil, and batteries must be disposed of at Miami-Dade County household hazardous waste collection events or permanent drop-off facilities. Tires are limited to four per pickup. Contact Public Works at (305) 895-9830 for scheduling.
Placing bulk items at the curb without scheduling pickup is a code violation. Dumping construction debris in the swale or right-of-way results in fines and required removal at the property owner's expense. Illegal dumping of hazardous materials carries penalties under both city and county regulations. Leaving bulk items at the curb beyond the scheduled pickup date results in code enforcement action.
