Recology Vacaville Solano provides one annual curbside bulky-item collection per residential customer. The customer may set out either two bulky items, two cubic yards of bagged material, or three e-waste items. Pickup is scheduled at least one day before the regular collection day. Hazardous waste, construction and demolition debris, and auto parts are not accepted in the bulky-item program.
Recology Vacaville Solano operates a Residential Cleanup Program offering each single-family customer one curbside collection per service year. The customer chooses one of three options: two bulky items; two cubic yards of bagged material; or three e-waste items. To schedule, the customer calls Recology Vacaville Solano at (707) 448-2945 at least one day before their regular collection day, then places the items at the curb next to the gray cart. Customers are asked to write the letters RCP (Residential Cleanup Program) on a piece of paper and attach it to one of the items. Accepted bulky items include appliances, electronics, mattresses, furniture, metal items (including scrap metal), textiles, and carpet and padding, plus small and large loose items up to two cubic yards total when boxed or bagged. A mattress and box-spring set counts as one bulky item. Bagged materials may not exceed 32-gallon bags or 25 pounds when full. Hazardous waste, construction and demolition debris, and auto parts are not accepted in the cleanup program; hazardous waste is handled separately at the Solano County household hazardous-waste facility, and large C&D loads should be hauled directly to a transfer station. Illegal dumping of bulky items in streets, alleys, or other locations is prohibited under California Penal Code Β§374.3 and Vacaville Municipal Code Chapter 8.10.
Exceeding the program's annual allotment or setting out non-accepted items risks non-collection by Recology. Dumping bulky items on the street, in alleys, on vacant lots, or at apartment trash enclosures is illegal dumping under California Penal Code Β§374.3 and an abatable nuisance under Vacaville Municipal Code Chapter 8.10, citable with administrative penalties and cost recovery.
