York County, VA Trash & Recycling: Bulk Item Disposal (2026)

Section 19-67 splits large-item collection into two programs. Under the bulky item program, households and qualified small businesses that already receive county solid waste service must call ahead following a schedule the County Administrator publishes, and each customer is entitled to three bulky items per collection, four times a calendar year, at no additional charge. New occupants who sign up for county service get a one-time special pickup of up to thirty boxes. Single-family and duplex residences that opted out of county collection can still call ahead for a bulky item pickup for a fee set by the Board of Supervisors, and any non-customer can arrange a special pickup for $30.00, subject to the county limiting how much it will collect in one trip.

The special yard waste program covers limbs and tree trunks up to 8 inches in diameter and 10 feet long; program customers pay $25.00 per collection and non-customers pay $75.00, and both are limited to two collections every thirty days per household or business, with an extra $100 fee for any additional pickup requested within that thirty-day window. Residents can also skip the fee entirely by hauling their own yard waste and tree limbs, up to 24 inches in diameter and 10 feet long, to the VPPSA composting facility at the county's waste management center.
