Camarillo, CA Trash & Recycling: Collection Schedule (2026)

Camarillo does not let residents opt out of organized trash collection. Municipal Code Sec. 030(A) requires "the responsible person for each commercial and residential premise at which solid waste is generated or accumulated in the city" to make arrangements with a solid waste collector, or obtain a self-haul permit from the city's solid waste officer under Sec. 050. The only carve-out is a vacancy exemption under Sec. 030(B): a property that has generated no solid waste for the prior 60 days and will stay vacant can apply for an exemption of up to 180 days at a time.

On the supply side, Sec. 050. That same franchisee must provide residential roll-off service on request. Because collection is run through one exclusive residential franchise rather than competing haulers, the collection day and schedule for a given neighborhood are set by that franchisee's routes and by rules the city may add under Sec. 140, not by resident choice. Solid waste must go out for the next regularly scheduled collection date after it accumulates, per Sec. 070's placement rules, and cannot simply be stockpiled on a property between pickups under Sec.

060's container-capacity standard. Billing runs through the city on the franchisee's behalf, and unpaid residential accounts become delinquent 21 days after billing under Sec. 220.
