Clay, NY Trash & Recycling: Collection Schedule (2026)

Section 194-11 of the Town of Clay Code, adopted September 18, 2000 by Local Law No. 1-2000, restricts every municipal hauler licensed under § 194-3 to operating no earlier than 6:00 a.m. and no later than 6:00 p.m. within the town. The hours apply to the collection, removal and transport activity governed by Chapter 194, which requires haulers to hold an annual municipal hauler license running January 1 through December 31 under § 194-5 and to display a distinctive municipal sticker on the driver's side vent window or windshield under § 194-4.

Residents whose waste is not picked up because it was set out improperly must clear it from the curb by 6:00 p.m. on the designated collection day under § 194-12, tying the removal deadline to the same evening cutoff. Enforcement runs through the Town Code Enforcement Officer, Town Building Inspector, Town Fire Inspector, Highway Superintendent, Onondaga County Sheriff's Department, New York State Police and Department of Environmental Conservation officers under § 194-19C. A hauler that collects outside the 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. window is fined $200 per offense under the § 194-20 penalty schedule, and each day of noncompliance counts as a separate violation under § 194-19A.
