Full Breakdown

Town of Babylon Code § 133-35 makes it unlawful to store, deposit, place, or maintain a roll-off container on any street, lane, sidewalk, roadway, or highway in the Town. A roll-off left in violation is deemed abandoned and may be removed and stored under the Uniform Code of Traffic Ordinances. This governs the unincorporated hamlets, West Babylon, North Babylon, Deer Park, Wyandanch, Copiague, and the others, plus wherever town-wide law reaches; it does not restrict a roll-off kept entirely on private property.

Violations & Fines

Refusing to remove an illegally placed roll-off, or resisting/obstructing a Town officer during removal, is punishable under § 133-31B: $500–$2,500 for a first offense, up to 15 days jail, rising to $5,000–$7,500 for a third offense within five years.
