Hendersonville, TN Trash & Recycling: Dumpster Rules (2026)

Hendersonville's zoning ordinance requires refuse and recycling containers and storage areas to be screened on three sides by a solid brick or stone wall extending at least two feet above the top of the dumpster, with the fourth side closed off by an opaque wood, vinyl, or approved-material gate. That gate side sits on a concrete apron extending at least six feet beyond the enclosure opening, sized to support a collection truck's weight during unloading, and plants must be installed to blend the enclosure into the landscape. An enclosure isn't required when the dumpster sits behind the building out of view from streets and adjacent properties, and small residential curbside carts under 100 gallons are exempt.
