A commercial-type bin used for Solid Waste, Recyclables, or Organic Waste must carry slots or devices a front-loading collection truck's arms can engage, § 6.04.070(a). Before setting a commercial-type bin in or on the public right-of-way adjacent to commercially zoned property, the responsible party must first obtain an encroachment permit under Chapter 14.16, § 6.04.070(b). Roll-off debris boxes for construction and demolition debris, Green Waste, and bulky items must be welded-steel construction and built for a roll-off-type refuse truck, § 6.04.075, and unlike standard Solid Waste containers, which § 6.04.020 caps at level full, debris boxes may be filled more than level full.

Stationary compactors serving commercial premises must likewise be welded-steel, fully enclosed, with detachable compaction units and roll-off-truck compatibility under § 6.04.076, but may not hold construction debris or bulky items. Waste from demolition, remodeling or construction may not go in containers meant for domestic or commercial waste, § 6.04.100; it belongs in a debris box instead. Bins placed on a public street outside the permitted window violate § 6.04.110's placement-timing rule, and the City Manager may inspect any collection container under § 6.04.245 to confirm compliance.
