Full Breakdown

Evanston City Code § 8-3-7-3 makes it unlawful to throw or deposit litter, including yard waste, dead animals, and construction debris, on any street, alley, sidewalk, or other public place except in an authorized receptacle, and separately bars dumping litter on private property that isn't your own. Property owners must also keep frontage sidewalks and parkways clear of litter. Section 8-3-7 sets no dedicated fine, so violations default to the Code's general penalty at § 1-4-1: $20 to $750, with each day of violation a separate offense.

Violations & Fines

Fine of $20 to $750 per Code § 1-4-1's general penalty (Section 8-3-7 sets none); each day litter remains constitutes a separate offense, and the City may bill abatement costs.
