Buena Park's exclusive franchised hauler is EDCO, also known as Park Disposal. Residents receive three carts (green organics, blue recycling, gray trash) collected on a regular schedule by address. Collection is shifted one day later after six listed holidays. Place carts at the curb with the lid arrows pointing toward the street.
The City of Buena Park contracts with EDCO (also known as Park Disposal) as its exclusive provider of solid waste and recycling hauling services under a city franchise agreement, administered by the Public Works Department. Residential refuse customers receive automated curbside service using three wheeled carts: a green container for organics/green waste, a blue container for recycling, and a gray container for trash. The city instructs residents to 'place refuse/waste, recycling, and green waste recycling containers at the curb for collection with the arrows on the lid pointing toward the street,' and to set green-waste containers at least two feet away from trash carts. Collection days vary by address; the city publishes a citywide map and trash collection schedule, and EDCO provides service schedules by address. Service is delayed by one day following six holidays: New Year's Day, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas Day. Branches, tree limbs or similar debris too large for the green cart must be tied with sturdy twine in bundles not exceeding four feet in length and eighteen inches in diameter and placed next to the green container behind the curb. Questions go to EDCO at (714) 522-3577; the city's Public Works contact is pw@buenapark.com.
Solid waste collection is governed by Buena Park Municipal Code Chapter 8.12, which provides for mandatory service and proper set-out. Failing to set out carts correctly, using a non-franchised hauler, or improperly bundling overflow green waste can result in service refusal or code enforcement. Improper storage or accumulation of solid waste is treated by the city as a public nuisance concern.
