Residential trash, recycling, and organics in Orange are collected by CR&R Environmental Services. Collection occurs weekly. As of January 2024, participation in organics recycling is mandatory under California SB 1383.
The City of Orange contracts with CR&R Environmental Services ((714) 372-8272) for weekly residential trash, recycling, and organics collection. Residents receive three bins: black for trash, blue for recyclables, and green for organics (yard waste and food scraps). As of January 2024, California SB 1383 mandates that all residents participate in organics recycling by separating food waste from trash and placing it in the green bin. CR&R processes organics at their Regional Organics Anaerobic Recovery (ROAR) facility, converting waste into renewable natural gas and compost. Collection days vary by neighborhood β contact CR&R or check the city website for your schedule. Multifamily and commercial properties have separate collection arrangements. The city enacted a state-mandated solid waste rate adjustment to fund expanded organics collection.
Non-participation in organics recycling may result in fines per state mandate as of January 2024. Improper sorting or contamination of recycling bins may result in non-collection.
