Coastal Waste & Recycling collects Davie household garbage twice a week by zone: Monday/Thursday west of Flamingo Road, Tuesday/Friday between Flamingo and Pine Island roads, and Wednesday/Saturday east of Pine Island Road. Town Code section 9-22 requires garbage removal at least twice per seven-day week.
Solid-waste collection in Davie is mandatory and franchised. Town Code section 9-22 ('Requirement for garbage and trash removal') states that all residents and occupants of residential units 'shall be required to have all accumulations of garbage and trash removed and disposed of by the collector not less than twice per seven (7) calendar days,' with the same twice-weekly minimum for commercial, industrial and office uses. Since June 1, 2021, the Town has been served by Coastal Waste & Recycling for all solid-waste and recycling collection. Curbside residential collection runs twice per week between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. on days set by zone: west of Flamingo Road on Mondays and Thursdays; between Flamingo Road and Pine Island Road on Tuesdays and Fridays; and east of Pine Island Road on Wednesdays and Saturdays. The Town moved to a 'hybrid' model in which the garbage and recycling carts are picked up by the same truck and taken to the Waste-to-Energy Facility, though residents are still asked to source-separate. Carts must be packed so the lid closes, with nothing on top, and stay under 75 pounds; residents are encouraged to bag and tie garbage before placing it in the cart. Yard waste under 75 pounds may go in the 96-gallon green cart on any regular garbage day.
Setting garbage out late, overloading a cart so the lid won't close, or leaving extra bags beside the cart (which automated trucks won't take) can result in a missed pickup or a Code Compliance notice. Missed-collection and service questions go to Coastal Waste & Recycling (954-580-1292); compliance complaints go to Code Compliance (954-693-8237).
