Burrtec Waste Industries holds the exclusive solid-waste franchise for Jurupa Valley under Municipal Code Chapter 6.75 (Solid Waste Code) and Chapter 6.76. Single-family residents get three carts (black trash, blue recycling, green organics) all serviced the same weekday. All carts must be at the curb by 6:00 a.m. on the service day and removed within 12 hours after collection. Collection is suspended on six holidays (New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas) and pickups for the remainder of that week slide one day later.
Service is administered by the City under an exclusive franchise agreement with Burrtec Waste Industries (1850 Agua Mansa Road, Jurupa Valley), with rates set by City Council. Effective July 1, 2025, standard 95-gallon weekly service is $38.92/month, and a 64-gallon senior (65+) rate is $34.47/month. Customers cannot opt out of the franchise; self-haul or use of an unfranchised hauler is prohibited under Chapter 6.75. Holiday slide rule: when a listed holiday falls on a weekday, every collection day later that week is delayed by one day; Saturday/Sunday holidays cause no delay. Service zones and pickup days are mapped on the city's Burrtec service area map.
Setting carts out before the night prior or leaving them at the curb more than 12 hours after pickup violates Chapter 6.75 / 6.80 container rules and is enforceable as an administrative citation by Code Enforcement (951-332-6464). Using an unauthorized hauler or self-hauling household trash to a transfer station instead of subscribing to Burrtec service violates the exclusive franchise.
