The City of Richmond contracts with GFL Environmental for weekly residential solid waste collection, requiring use of city-issued carts placed at the curb by 7:00 a.m. on the scheduled collection day.
Richmond's residential sanitation services are contracted to GFL (Green for Life) and include once-weekly trash collection, weekly recycling, weekly heavy item pickup, and bi-weekly bulk and brush collection. Residents must use the GFL-issued automated cart; personal trash cans are not accepted. All solid waste, recycling, heavy items, and lawn or limb compost must be at the curb no later than 7:00 a.m. on the day of collection. Service questions go to GFL at 281-368-8397, and the City Public Works Department at 281-342-0559 handles complaints.
Setting out unapproved containers, missing the 7:00 a.m. set-out deadline, or placing waste in a manner that blocks collection may result in missed pickups, service warnings, or code compliance notices.
