Boise provides curbside recycling collection through Republic Services as part of the city's trash service. Single-stream recycling allows residents to place all acceptable recyclables in one blue cart. The city encourages recycling to divert waste from the landfill.
Boise provides single-stream curbside recycling collected weekly alongside garbage. Accepted materials include paper, cardboard, aluminum and steel cans, glass bottles and jars, and plastics #1-#7. Materials must be clean, dry, and loose (not bagged). Contaminated recyclables may cause the entire cart to be collected as trash. Cardboard should be broken down flat. Yard waste is collected separately. The city does not mandate recycling but strongly encourages it. Recycling carts are available in the same size options as trash carts.
Contaminated recycling carts may not be collected or may be collected as trash. Repeated contamination may result in removal of recycling service. No fines exist for not recycling, as participation is voluntary.
