Boise curbside recycling accepts paper, cardboard, metal cans, and plastics 1 and 2. Glass is NOT accepted curbside and must be taken to drop-off sites.
The Boise curbside recycling program, Hefty Renew bags (orange bags for hard-to-recycle plastics), and the EnergyBag program are administered by Republic Services. Accepted materials include clean paper, flattened cardboard, aluminum and steel cans, and rigid plastics marked 1 (PET) or 2 (HDPE). Plastics 3 through 7 must go in trash unless collected through the Hefty Renew orange bag program. Glass is collected at drop-off stations at locations including Boise Urban Garden, Cole & Ustick, and the Ada County Landfill. Plastic bags, food waste, textiles, and electronics are not accepted in blue carts and cause contamination fines to the city.
Contaminated carts receive a warning tag on first offense; repeat contamination can result in cart removal and a 30 dollar reinstatement fee.
