Recology provides weekly curbside collection of recyclables and food/yard waste at no additional cost to residential customers in Redmond. Accepted recyclables in the blue cart include: newspapers, magazines, office paper, cardboard flattened to fit in the cart, paperboard boxes, glass bottles and jars (rinsed), metal food and beverage cans, aluminum foil, and rigid plastic containers marked #1-7. Plastic bags, film, Styrofoam, pizza boxes with food residue, and shredded paper are NOT accepted curbside. The green food and yard waste cart accepts all food scraps including meat, bones, dairy, bread, fruit and vegetable trimmings, coffee grounds, tea bags, certified compostable paper products, and yard debris (grass, leaves, branches under 4 feet long and 4 inches diameter). Food waste must be kept out of the garbage cart. Multifamily properties with 4 or more units are required under King County code to provide recycling and food waste collection to tenants. Batteries, light bulbs, medications, and hazardous waste require separate disposal through King County programs.
