The rule bars anyone owning, occupying, or leasing property abutting a street, road, highway, or parkway from placing or keeping tree debris, brush, or woody vegetation near their property line unless it is set out for collection by the Town of Smithtown Highway Department on the Town's posted pickup schedule. To qualify for pickup, every piece must meet four numeric limits at once: less than six inches in diameter, cut into lengths no longer than four feet, bundled into bundles no larger than two feet by two feet by four feet, and weighing less than 50 pounds.
