Sec. 1 of the Zoning and Development Code, effective July 1, 2024, defines a shed under Sec. 1 as a simple roofed structure used for storage or as a workshop, including similar structures sited on gravel pads or skids; a structure meeting that definition that can fit a parked car and includes a garage door instead counts as a garage under Sec. 5, not a shed. Because sheds are an accessory use, Sec. 2 does not list them among the accessory uses requiring a Ministerial Permit, so a compliant shed can be built without going through the City's permit process, though the property still must meet the Code's form and placement standards.

Form standards cap a shed at 12 feet in maximum height and 120 gross square feet in maximum size. Placement standards limit a lot to 1 shed per 2,000 square feet of lot area, require the shed to sit within a rear yard only, meaning it cannot be placed in a front or side yard, and set a minimum setback of 5 feet from the side or rear lot line.
