Victoria, TX Animal Ordinances: Beekeeping (2026)

Victoria's nuisance code (Sec. 10-41(g), Ch. 10 Health and Sanitation) treats 'non-domesticated insects, such as bees nesting in areas other than frame hives' with sting capable of anaphylactic shock as a disease-producing condition, listed alongside weeds, junk, and stagnant water. The ordinance implicitly permits managed beekeeping in standard frame hives while treating feral or unmanaged colonies elsewhere on a property as a violation. Owners must abate the condition (Sec. 10-42); the Development Services director gives seven days' written notice to fix it (Sec. 10-43), and if the owner doesn't comply, the city can do the abatement work itself and place a lien on the property for the cost (Sec. 10-44).
