Victoria, TX Animal Ordinances: Chickens & Livestock (2026)

Under Sec. 4-52, anyone keeping chickens or other fowl in Victoria must provide a fenced run with at least 10 square feet per bird plus a coop giving 3 square feet per bird. The run and coop must sit at least 25 feet from the nearest neighboring dwelling and 5 feet from any property line, and be screened behind a 6-foot opaque fence or otherwise hidden from public view. The code sets no minimum lot size and does not ban roosters outright, but fowl must be kept quietly enough not to disturb neighbors, and dyeing or selling dyed chicks under 8 weeks old is separately banned under Sec. 4-53.
