Puyallup, WA Animal Ordinances: Bird Protection (2026)

PMC § 9.20.060, "Interference with wildlife," prohibits, in any manner, teasing, annoying, disturbing, molesting, catching, injuring or killing any animal, bird, fowl or fish in any city park, and separately bars throwing any stone or missile at, or striking with any stick or weapon, any such animal. The protection covers birds and fowl alongside other park wildlife and fish, and applies throughout the city's park system as defined in PMC § 9.20.005(9). The section sits in Chapter 9.20 PMC, the same chapter that regulates fires, alcohol, camping, sound devices, and other park conduct, and is enforced as a park-code violation by park staff and the Puyallup police department. Because the prohibition is written into the general "interference with wildlife" section rather than a standalone bird ordinance, it does not create special protections beyond city park boundaries; it governs conduct toward birds and other wildlife specifically inside Puyallup's parks.
