Puyallup's zoning code addresses veterinary clinics primarily through dog-kennel performance standards tied to each zoning district. 045(9) permits a vet clinic to keep an exterior area where dogs are impounded, but only if that area is completely enclosed by a masonry or equivalent wall at least six feet high and set back at least 25 feet from the nearest residentially zoned or residentially used property; the kennel portion of the clinic must also be designed and operated so it produces no offensive odor or noise detectable off site.
