Cheyenne regulates dangerous animals by behavior, not breed: no pit bull or other breed is named anywhere in the city code's dangerous-animal rules.
No person shall own, keep, harbor or allow to be upon any premises occupied by him or her or under his or her charge or control, any dangerous animal without having the animal properly secured and muzzled. Upon conviction, the municipal court may additionally order any the dangerous animal be euthanized or may ban the animal from the city.

City Code 6.08.040 requires any "dangerous animal" to be kept properly secured and muzzled, with no breed named. Section 6.04.020(A)(10) defines "dangerous animal" purely by conduct: one that constitutes a physical threat or, unprovoked, bites or attacks, trained guard, sentry, or police dogs are exempt. A biting or attacking animal can also be summarily impounded up to 10 days under 6.08.170. On conviction under 6.08.040, municipal court may order the animal euthanized or banned from the city.
