Full Breakdown

City Code § 6.08.090 caps a single dwelling unit at four dogs or four cats. Cross the limit and the city treats the household as an unlicensed kennel, which must then meet the zoning code's kennel requirements. Nursing litters are exempt until the puppies or kittens turn four months old, so a mother cat's litter won't put an owner over the line right away.

Violations & Fines

Exceeding four dogs or four cats triggers kennel classification, forcing the property into zoning compliance for kennel use.
