Full Breakdown
Under Chapter 6 of the Flower Mound Code of Ordinances, no dog may run at large within the town limits. An animal is considered at large when it is off the premises of its owner and not under the physical control of a responsible person by means of a leash, cord, chain, or other restraint device. Animal Services officers may impound any dog found running at large. Owners must reclaim impounded animals within a specified holding period and pay boarding and impoundment fees. A dog that has bitten a person is subject to a mandatory 10-day quarantine at Denton County Animal Services or a licensed veterinary facility.
Dogs classified as dangerous under TX Health and Safety Code Ch. 822 must be registered with the local animal control authority, kept in a secure enclosure, and restrained by leash and muzzle when off premises. Flower Mound has no off-leash dog park operated by the town, though leashed dogs are welcome on all public trails.
