Lincoln prohibits dogs running at large under LMC 6.04.120. Dogs must be leashed off-property. All dogs require an annual city license under LMC 6.08.030 with rabies vaccine.
LMC 6.04.120 makes it unlawful for any animal to run at large within the city. Dogs must be restrained by a leash or kept under the direct physical control of the owner when off private property. LMC 6.08.030 requires all dogs over six months of age to be licensed annually with the city. Licensing requires proof of current rabies vaccination under LMC 6.08.020. Dogs must wear collars with license tags visible at all times under LMC 6.08.070 and 6.08.080. Multi-dog households (typically 4 or more) need a special permit under LMC 6.08.180. LMC 6.08.155 requires owners to immediately dispose of dog waste on public or others' private property. Violations of leash and licensing requirements are subject to fines. Lincoln Animal Control enforces these provisions and can be reached at (402) 441-7900.
