Tamarac, FL Animal Ordinances: Pet Groomer Rules (2026)

The City of Tamarac treats pet grooming as its own line item on the local business tax fee schedule adopted under City Code Section 12-39. A fixed-location groomer pays the Animal groomer, each fee of $133.85, and a groomer who works out of a van or mobile unit pays the same $133.85 under the separate Animal groomer mobile code. Both sit in the fee table's Agriculture and Animal-Related Services group alongside animal boarding kennels at $267.75 and veterinary clinics that do not board animals at $133.85, so a groomer operating inside a boarding kennel or veterinary office can end up needing more than one receipt depending on the services actually offered on site.

Before the receipt issues, Section 12-26 makes it unlawful to engage in, manage or transact any business in the city without first obtaining a business tax receipt and paying the tax, and Section 12-30(c) requires the director of community development to confirm the grooming use is allowed at that address under the Land Development Code before the receipt is approved. Receipts run on an annual cycle and must be renewed by October 1 each year under Section 12-29, with a delinquency penalty starting at ten percent in October and climbing five percent a month up to a twenty-five percent cap under Section 12-37.

A mobile groomer's vehicle is also subject to the identification requirement in Section 12-6, which requires the business name and address painted on a prominent place on any truck or motor vehicle used in connection with the business.
