Tamarac, FL Parking Rules: Loading Zones (2026)

Land Development Code § 10-4.3(H) sets the dimensional and location standards for off-street loading berths required whenever a Tamarac building is erected, expanded by fifty percent or more, or changes use, with the required count drawn from Table 10-4.4. Each berth has to be sized for the vehicles that will actually use it, with a floor of at least twelve feet in width and twenty-five feet in length; a property that expects semi-truck trailers must make its loading zone longer still to fit them, though the Director may allow a smaller or require a larger berth based on a development's particular characteristics.

Every berth also needs at least fourteen feet of overhead clearance. On placement, loading areas should sit at the rear of the use they serve where possible, next to the building's own loading doors in a spot that makes practical sense, and must be designed so trucks can maneuver into and out of them from a public street or alley without blocking a right-of-way, a parking space, a dumpster enclosure or a parking lot aisle. Tandem loading zones, meaning a configuration where a second truck cannot leave without the first one moving, are barred outright, with no exception listed in this subsection.

These loading standards sit alongside a separate drive-through stacking-space table for businesses like banks and restaurants, which is a distinct requirement covering customer vehicles rather than delivery trucks.
