Tamarac, FL Parking Rules: Commercial & Oversized Vehicles (2026)

City Code Sec. 14-30, most recently amended by Ordinance No. O-2016-10 on May 11, 2016, defines 'commercial vehicle' broadly in subsection (a)(2) to include truck cabs, trailers, semitrailers, buses, taxis, wreckers, hearses, vehicles with more than two axles, vehicles exceeding 20 feet in length or 8 feet in height, and any vehicle carrying outside commercial lettering, decals or equipment such as a ladder or aerial device. Subsection (b) bars parking such a vehicle, or a recreational vehicle, boat or boat trailer, on a public right-of-way or private property in a residentially zoned or clubhouse district between 9:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m.

The restriction lifts only for vehicles fully screened in a garage or carport concealed from any abutting side street, for vehicles made necessary by physical impairment, or for special multi-family parking areas set back at least 25 feet from the right-of-way and screened by a 4-to-6-foot fence or hedge that the property owner has registered with Community Development. A vehicle may sit in a prohibited spot for loading or unloading, but if it remains a continuous 24 hours or appears more than twice in any 20-day period during the restricted hours, subsection (b)(5) treats that as conclusive evidence of a violation.

Subsection (c) separately bans parking, storing or keeping any commercial vehicle at all within a commercially zoned district's property lines, except at licensed dealerships, city storage facilities, or a business location holding a current local business license, where the vehicle must sit within 10 feet of the business or be screened at the rear. Violating vehicles under the vacant-land provision, subsection (d), can be impounded and the owner billed towing costs plus a $200 city administrative fee.
